2019 Stanley Cup playoffs: Eastern Conference Final Game 2 open thread

The Bruins seek a 2-0 series lead over the Hurricanes when they host Game 2 on Sunday at TD Garden.

Boston took the series opener with a 5-2 win Thursday to snap Carolina’s six-game win streak. Marcus Johansson had a goal and an assist, Brad Marchand had two assists, and Tuukka Rask made 29 saves for the Bruins, who extended their win streak to four games.

The Bruins will have defenseman Charlie McAvoy back in the lineup after he served a one-game suspension in Game 1 for an illegal hit to the head of Columbus’ Josh Anderson in the finale of the second-round series. McAvoy’s replacement, Steven Kampfer, scored the opening goal less than three minutes into Game 1.

Carolina will be trying to avoid a 2-0 series deficit for the second time in this year’s playoffs. The Hurricanes trailed 2-0 to the reigning Stanley Cup champion Capitals in the first round before winning four straight then sweeping the Islanders to make the conference final.
