Hawks knock off BJ’s, Adams out for the year, Richmond on waivers

First off, how about that 5-2 victory for the Blackhawks last night over the Blue Jackets? It was impressive to see them cough up a 1-0 lead in the 3rd, fall behind 2-1, but then right the ship and pick up four straight goals to get the 5-2 win, moving their record to 8-7-0 on the year. Kudos to the Blackhawks defensemen who accounted for three of the five goals. It was a big win to get back over the .500 mark. I’d have to give the SCH Hawks Player Of The Game Award to Jonathan Toews, who picked up a goal and an assist and played strong all night.

It was a bit of a costly win, however, because in the 1st period, Kevyn Adams akwardly went into the boards after taking a hit from a Columbus player, went down and had to be helped off the ice. Today, it was revealed that he has a torn ACL/MCL in his left knee and will most likely not play again this season. It might not be a monumental loss, but Adams was doing well as a 4th liner and strong penalty killer, and was a nice little player to plug into the lineup. It might be an opportunity for a young player to step in and get some ice time now.

Also, TSN is reporting that defenseman/forward Danny Richmond has been placed on waivers. I haven’t seen any confirmation on the internet yet or any other sources, but Richmond hasn’t played much and only seems to be kept around in case of an injury.
