Watch: Alex DeBrincat scores first Blackhawks goal of 2018-19 NHL season

Alex DeBrincat took the lead in scoring for the Chicago Blackhawks again as he tallied the team’s first goal of the 2018-19 season Thursday against the Senators at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.

DeBrincat stole the puck from Max McCormick and skated up through the neutral zone into the offensive zone before blasting a shot past Chicago-area native Craig Anderson to give Chicago a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the game.

DeBrincat, a 2016 second-round draft pick, is skating on the top line at left wing with center Jonathan Toews and rookie winger Dominik Kahun. The 20-year-old DeBrincat is the fourth straight forward to tally the first goal of the season for Chicago.

DeBrincat posted 52 points and a team-high 28 goals last season as a rookie.

After being drafted by Chicago, DeBrincat won the Red Tilson Trophy as the most outstanding player in the Ontario Hockey League. DeBrincat led the OHL with 65 goals and 62 assists for the Erie Otters.
