Aww, how Swede: Dennis Rasmussen’s family flies in from Sweden for his first NHL game

The Chicago Blackhawks‘ 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators was special for one reason in particular: it was Dennis Rasmussen’s first NHL game. Undrafted, the 25-year-old Swede started playing for the Rockford IceHogs last season, scoring just a modest 27 points over 73 games. His pace increased this season, and just over a quarter of the way through the year, found himself called up.

And it was particularly special for him, because his family – who lives in Sweden – came all the way over to watch.

That’s awesome. That definitely made an already special day even better. And he even gave them a show by scoring his first NHL goal, a tip-in off a shot from teammate Andrew Shaw, who was pretty excited for him.

You’ve gotta think his family in the stands were losing it, too. That was probably worth coming all the way over for, wasn’t it? Congrats to all of the Rasmussens on Dennis’ success thus far – hopefully, this is only the beginning.
