Blackhawks’ 2016 prospect camp set for July 10-15 at Johnny’s IceHouse West

The Chicago Blackhawks will host their 2016 prospect camp from July 10-15 at Johnny’s IceHouse West in Chicago, the team announced Monday. The annual camp gives team officials and media the chance to get an extended look at many of the best prospects in the organization.

The roster and practice times for the camp have not been released, but you can expect big names like Nick Schmaltz, Gustav Forsling and top 2016 pick Alex DeBrincat to be among those attending. With so many roster spots likely to be open to young players, it should be an especially competitive camp as players try to get a head start on making the NHL roster.

Here’s a look at the nine players the Hawks drafted last week, including DeBrincat. None of those players really stand a chance of making the NHL club this year, but guys like Schmaltz, Tyler Motte, Ryan Hartman, Tanner Kero, Kyle Baun, Forsling and Ville Pokka will be looking to earn spots.
