The Rockford IceHogs are nearing the 60-game mark this week, so we thought it’d be a good time to check in on the Chicago Blackhawks prospects playing in the AHL.
Since the last update and their return from the AHL All-Star break, the IceHogs enjoyed steady improvement before hitting quite the surge to practically guarantee themselves a playoffs spot. Rockford currently sits third in the Central Division with a 29-23-5-2 record, including an 8-2 record in the last 10. Their second loss in that span was on Sunday, a close 4-3 game against the Grand Rapid Griffins when the IceHogs came back from being down 3-0 but lost when the Griffins scored with about one minute left in regulation.
Note: For this report, any player under 25 at the start of the season and with an NHL contract will be considered a Blackhawks prospect. This iteration of the AHL report will only include players who have played at least 5 games since the last update (so, no Antti Saarela due to an injury or Marcel Marcel, who is in the ECHL).
