Blackhawks assign Collin Delia, Dylan Sikura to AHL

The Chicago Blackhawks assigned goaltender Collin Delia and forward Dylan Sikura to the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL on Saturday night.

With the moves, the Hawks training camp roster stands at 25 players: 13 forwards, nine defenseman and three goaltenders.

Delia made two appearances in the preseason. The 24-year-old made 14 saves in relief in Chicago’s preseason opening 4-1 loss Sept. 18 at Columbus, and 17 stops on 19 shots three nights later in a 5-2 defeat in Ottawa.

The undrafted free agent posted a 3.96 goals-against average and .889 save percentage in two NHL appearances last season. He also led the charge for the IceHogs during their Calder Cup playoff run. Delia is slated to be Rockford’s No. 1 netminder this season.

Sikura, 23, was expected to push for a roster spot after scoring 54 points (22 goals, 32 assists) in 35 games for Northeastern University during his senior season. The 2014 sixth-round pick signed an entry-level deal with the team then tallied three assists in five NHL games. During camp Sikura didn’t stand out as much as many had hoped, and was eclipsed by the likes of John Hayden, Luke Johnson and David Kampf.

The Hawks begin their regular season Thursday on the road against the Ottawa Senators.
