At Second City Hockey we are always open to bringing in new writers to join our wonderful team. With the 2018-19 NHL season underway, we want to bring in some new talent to continue to make SCH the best website for news, analysis and commentary on the Chicago Blackhawks.
A monthly stipend may be available for consistent contributors.
What kind of contributors are we looking for?
- Blackhawks game coverage: Writing previews and game recaps
- AHL coverage: Game updates, analysis and possibly live reporting in Rockford. SCH did have credentialed access last season.
- Prospect coverage: Updates on non-AHL prospects in juniors and in Europe, including our new “Three Stars of the Week” post every Monday where we’ll highlight the three best performances of the past week from those players.
- Multimedia: Create videos, statistic graphics, GIFs and more
- Community: Moderate comments on site posts to follow SCH’s guidelines/
Who should apply?
Come all ye Hawk faithful! The ideal candidate will have the following background:
- Prior writing experience, preferably covering the Hawks
- Social media presence, mainly with Twitter
- Strong understanding of hockey strategies
- Strong knowledge in advanced statistics (not required)
- Easy to communicate with since we usually work remotely
- Fun people! We’re a fun bunch that loves to crack jokes and have a good time together/
