The Blackhawks have placed winger Brendan Perlini in concussion protocol, the team announced Saturday morning.
Perlini’s concussion likely occurred when he took a hard hit into the boards from Adam McQuaid in Chicago’s 4-3 loss to the Rangers on Thursday in New York City.
Chicago acquired Perlini in a November trade with Arizona that saw him and center Dylan Strome come to the Blackhawks in exchange for forward Nick Schmaltz.
Perlini has three goals and one assist in 23 games while playing in a bottom-six role since being traded to Chicago. The 6-foot-3, 212-pound winger has five goals and 10 points in 45 games this season with the Blackhawks and Coyotes.
Perlini is the fourth Blackhawks player this season to be placed in concussion protocol, joining forwards Marcus Kruger and Artem Anisimov and goaltender Corey Crawford. Both Anisimov and Kruger have returned to play, while Crawford has not. The star netminder participated in drills Saturday morning at MB Ice Arena before the Blackhawks practice.
