Blackhawks vs. Canucks game preview 2017: Corey Crawford to start

Corey Crawford will start in net when the Chicago Blackhawks host the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night at United Center.

Scott Darling posted a 30-save shutout performance Friday night in Boston, but  coach Joel Quenneville has opted to return to his No. 1 netminder despite his recent struggles. Crawford has allowed three or more goals in six of his last seven starts.

At the other end of the rink, the Canucks goalie situation is clear as day. Ryan Miller stopped 34 of 35 shots in a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers. It was Miller’s second straight 30-plus save performance, the first a 30-save shutout against Nashville.

The Canucks are 6-1-3 in their last 10 games, but have won two straight after Friday night’s win over Florida in which captain Henrik Sedin became the first player in franchise history to reach 1,000 career points. His twin brother, Daniel Sedin, had one of two assists on the play capping off a special celebration in front of an appreciative crowd at Rogers Arena. Sedin became the 85th NHL player to score 1,000 goals and only the 38th player to do it with the same franchise.

In their previous meeting in Vancouver in November, the Hawks won 4-3 in a hotly contested match-up which featured three goals in the third period by the Hawks and an overtime winner by Marian Hossa.

The Blackhawks have won six of their last nine games and sit in second place in the Central division, two points behind the Minnesota Wild.
