Former Blackhawk James Wisniewski breaks ‘a couple’ ribs in car crash

Former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman James Wisniewski sustained “a couple broken ribs” in a car crash Friday night in Ohio, reports The Columbus Dispatch.

Wisniewski, who Chicago drafted in 2002, owns a home in Dublin, Ohio, where the PGA Tour’s Memorial tournament was held during the weekend. PGA Tour pro Bud Cauley was staying with Wisniewski throughout the week, and pair got into a wreck with two other people in a car Friday.

The incident was first reported by Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis on Saturday.

Cauley had a collapsed lung, five broken ribs and a fractured left leg, as confirmed by his management firm IMG.

Wisniewski scored 56 points in 168 games across parts of four seasons with the Hawks. He also played for Anaheim, the New York Islanders, Montreal and Columbus in 11 NHL seasons. He had one assist in five games for the United States men’s national team in February at the Winter Olympics.
