Corey Crawford may feel “healthy to play right now,” but he hasn’t been medically cleared to play, coach Jeremy Colliton said Tuesday at MB Ice Arena. Colliton added that Crawford will not travel with the team for Wednesday’s game in Detroit.
The star goaltender said last Friday that he’s ready to go, but the decision for him to be back between the pipes isn’t his.
Crawford said he expects to take the final test to be medically cleared later this week. He isn’t worried about not passing it.

Crawford has been sidelined since Dec. 16 with his second concussion in less than a year. Prior to his head injury, he was 6-14-2 with a 3.28 goals-against average and .902 save percentage in 23 games. He missed the first five games of the season as he was working his way back from his first concussion.
With Crawford out, the Blackhawks have turned to Cam Ward and Collin Delia in net. The duo of Delia and Ward have helped the Blackhawks climb within one point of Minnesota for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
When the Blackhawks do activate Crawford from injured reserve, they’ll likely re-assign Delia to the AHL. Chicago plays Wednesday in Detroit before home games against Colorado and Dallas on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
