Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford’s concussion updates, timeline

Corey Crawford suffered his second known concussion in less than a year during the first period of the Blackhawks’ 7-3 loss to San Jose on Dec. 16 in Chicago.

Crawford made six saves on eight shots before leaving at 18:30 of the first period with a concussion following a collision in net. He was hit by friendly fire as teammate Dylan Strome was pushed into him by Evander Kane, who served a goaltender interference penalty for the play.

Crawford left the game and did not return. He was replaced by Cam Ward, who allowed five goals on 35 shots.

Crawford missed the final 47 games of the 2017-2018 season, and the first five games this season, dealing with remaining symptoms of a concussion before making his season debut Oct. 18. Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton said Sunday night that Crawford will be under concussion protocol and doesn’t have a timetable for his return.
