SCH Ice Cold Podcast: Episode 7, 3/31/16: Keith’s suspension, Crawford’s injury, a ray of light

The playoffs are two weeks away, and seemingly nothing more could be going wrong for the Blackhawks at the moment. Whether it’s Duncan Keith’s suspension that could possibly extend into the playoffs or Corey Crawford’s apparent head injury, as well as the struggle to pile up wins of late, Chicago is limping into the postseason. One of the best hockey writers, Greg Boysen, joins the guys to break it all down and perhaps offer a little hope for a team with the obvious goal of repeating.

The overall rundown:

  • Duncan Keith swings stick at Charlie Coyle in 4-1 loss to the Wild and earns himself a looming suspension. What’s the concern level and thought process for Keith and the Hawks there? Since when are the Blackhawks dirty?
  • Corey Crawford has not played since March 14th and is apparently dealing with a head injury. How cautious do the Hawks have to be in dealing with this? Can the Hawks win a series or steal a few games again with Scott Darling? Feeling on Crawford’s return.
  • More line-up possible moves (Panarin or Kane on top line, Teuvo at 2nd center, Marcus Kruger’s importance)
  • The flaws of the other Western contenders and why the Blackhawks could still be optimistic despite all of their issues.
  • College Prospect watch. Nick Schmaltz set to be featured in Frozen Four. Who’s the top priority for the Hawks and to keep an eye on? Any underrated talents?
  • A few Twitter questions! (Toews, Hossa, bees and buses, don’t worry, you’ll see)
