Blackhawks goaltender development coach Andrew Allen to be next Sabres goaltender coach

Andrew Allen is set to be the next goaltender coach for the Buffalo Sabres, the Chicago Blackhawks‘ AHL affiliate Rockford IceHogs announced Friday.

Allen, 38, has been the Blackhawks development coach for the past four seasons, and is credited with the success of Antti Raanta and Scott Darling in Rockford.

Allen joins Johan Hedberg (Sharks) and Kim Dillabaugh (Flyers) to make the jump from development coach to the NHL this offseason.

Allen was the goaltending coach for St. Lawrence University and as national team goaltending coach and development consultant of the Japanese Ice Hockey Federation. He spent five seasons as a goaltender in both the East Coast Hockey League and AHL, winning the 2005 ECHL Kelly Cup with Trenton Titans under the direction of Hawks assistant Mike Haviland and current IceHogs head coach Ted Dent.
