Former Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Jeff Glass will be joining his hometown Calgary Flames in training camp on a professional tryout contract, he announced on the Bosco podcast.
Glass went 3-7-3 with a 3.36 goals-against average and .898 save percentage in 15 games last season for Chicago. He made his NHL debut at 32 years old in a 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 29, 2017, with a 42-save performance.
“The journey is going to continue in North America, for now at least,” Glass said. “I’m pretty excited about that opportunity and them giving me a chance to come to camp and kind of prove my stuff, so that’s where my focus has shifted. I’m looking forward to getting started with them and seeing where it goes.”
Glass was pushed out of Chicago’s plans after Collin Delia emerged as the starter with the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL and Finnish free agent Kevin Lankinen signed a two-year deal in the summer. The Hawks also signed veteran Cam Ward and has one year left on Anton Forsberg’s contract.
