Marian Hossa ‘good to go’ for Team Europe after foot injury scare

Chicago Blackhawks forward is “good to go” for Team Europe after suffering a left foot bruise Thursday, Europe head coach Ralph Krueger told ESPN’s Craig Custance.

Hossa, 37, left Thursday’s game against Team North America after playing nearly 11 minutes in the first two periods. He recorded one shot on goal and no points. He was transported to a Quebec City hospital for X-rays, but no damage was found.

Team Europe will face Team North America in a pre-tournament rematch at 5 p.m. CST Sunday at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Hossa and Team Europe dropped the first game 4-0 at Videotron Centre in Quebec City. Team Europe’s final pre-tournament game is Wednesday against Team Sweden at 6 p.m. CST at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Hossa is one of 10 Blackhawks participating in this year’s World Cup of Hockey, which is set to begin later this month at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
