Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane named 2019 Ted Lindsay Award finalist

Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane is one of three finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award, given annually to the most outstanding player in the NHL as voted by NHL Players’ Association members.

Kane, 30, tallied a career-high 66 assists and 110 points in 81 games this past season. His 110 points were third to Kucherov (128) and McDavid (116). Both Kucherov and McDavid scored 41 goals, while Kane had 44. Kucherov is the lone player among the finalists to reach the playoffs with his team.

Kane made history in 2016 when he was the first Blackhawks player and first American-born player to win the award. He also won the Hart Trophy as league’s MVP and Art Ross Trophy as the league’s scoring race that year.

Lightning winger Nikita Kucherov, who won this season’s Art Ross Trophy with a league-high 128 points, and Oilers winger Connor McDavid, who had 116 points, are the other two finalists. McDavid has won the award the past two seasons.

The winner will be announced Wednesday, June 19, at the NHL Awards at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The event will be broadcasted at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Network.
