Blackhawks prospect Jake Wise out for season with injury

Blackhawks prospect Jake Wise is out for the season with an undisclosed injury, Boston University head coach Albie O’Connell confirmed with Scott Powers of The Athletic.

Mark Divver of The Providence Journal said he heard it was a shoulder injury, but O’Connell did not confirm that.

Wise has no goals and two assists in 12 games during his freshman season at Boston University. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound center last played for the Terriers in a 0-0 tie on Dec. 1 against rival Boston College.

It’s the second straight season Wise will miss a considerable amount of time due to injury. He sat out about half of last season after he broke a collarbone in the second game of the season with the U.S. National Team Development Program.

Wise scored nine goals and 28 points in only 18 USHL games for a 1.56 points-per-game average. He also tallied a goal and four assists in seven games at the under-18 World Junior Championship tournament before being drafted No. 69 overall this June by the Blackhawks.

O’Connell also said defenseman Chad Krys is expected to return soon from an undisclosed injury. Krys, a 2016 second-round pick, has three goals and five assists in 10 games during his junior season.
