Blackhawks prospect Graham Knott traded to OHL Windsor

The Niagara IceDogs traded Chicago Blackhawks prospect Graham Knott to the Windsor Spitfires on Friday.

Windsor general manager Warren Rychel also acquired the rights to Trent Frederic and a seventh-round draft pick in 2017 in exchange for a second-round pick, two third-round picks, a fourth- and sixth-round pick.

Chicago drafted Knott with the 54th overall pick in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Hawks signed the 19-year-old forward to a three-year entry-level deal at the end of September. He has four goals and 13 assists in 14 games this season.

“Graham has size and skill and will be a great fit in our top-six forward group,” Rychel said in a news release. “He can play both center and left wing for us and will help what is already two pretty good power play units.”

It’s a welcomed move for Knott, who leaves last place Niagara of the Central Division for first place Windsor of the West Division. He’s expected to make his Spitfires debut Saturday.

“It’s every OHL player’s dream to win a Memorial Cup,” Knott said. “This is a great opportunity for me to come in and help make that happen for this team.”
