Blackhawks prospects Nicolas Beaudin, MacKenzie Entwistle, Ian Mitchell named to Canada’s preliminary World Juniors roster

Blackhawks prospects Nicolas Beaudin, MacKenzie Entwistle and Ian Mitchell were named to Canada’s preliminary roster Monday for the 2019 World Junior Championship.

Beaudin (2018 first-rounder) has eight goals and 20 points in 18 games during his fourth season with Drummondville in the QMJHL. The left-handed defenseman tallied 12 goals and 69 points last season.

Chicago acquired Entwistle (2017 third-rounder) in the Marian Hossa trade with the Coyotes in July. He has 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) in 26 games in his fourth season with the Hamilton Bulldogs in the OHL.

Mitchell (2017 second-rounder) is almost averaging a point per game with 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in 12 contests during his sophomore season with the University of Denver. The right-handed blue liner had two assists in five games at the under-18 World Juniors for Canada in 2017.

Canada’s camp will be from Dec. 11-14 and include three exhibition games against a team of U Sports all stars. Two of those games will be in Victoria, and a third will be in Frog Lake, Alberta. The tournament will run from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6 in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia.
