Blackhawks prospect Andrei Altybarmakyan traded to HC Sochi

SKA St. Petersburg traded Blackhawks prospect Andrei Altybarmakyan to HC Sochi for Ivan Larichev on Monday.

Altybarmakyan played in 14 KHL games for SKA last season, but couldn’t crack the lineup this season. The 20-year-old right winger has produced for SKA’s minor teams though. He scored two goals in the VHL — Russia’s top minor league — on Friday, and has two goals and five assists in 11 VHL games this season. He also has three goals and two assists in three MHL games.

Altybarmakyan, a 2017 third-round draft pick, tallied 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in 32 games in the VHL last season. He also had a goal and three points in five games for Russia at the World Junior Championship.

The 22-year-old undrafted free agent Larichev has played in three games for Sochi.

Altybarmakyan, who went from unranked to No. 16 in Second City Hockey’s Top 25 Under 25 rankings this year, is in the final year of his KHL contract.
