Here is the weekly look at how some of the Chicago Blackhawks‘ prospects are performing around the globe, starting with the minor league affiliates.
Rockford
The IceHogs (14-4-0-1) had a three-game sweep to retain the best record in the AHL. Rockford came back to defeat the Iowa Wild 4-3 on Friday before beating the Milwaukee Admirals (Predators) 3-2 at home on Saturday and the Chicago Wolves (Blues) 3-0 on Sunday.
Goaltender Mac Carruth made his first appearance this season and posted his first career AHL shutout over Chicago. It was the second shutout this season with Michael Leighton posting the other on Oct. 19 against the Toronto Marlies in a 1-0 shootout loss. The win was broke a five-game skid at the Allstate Arena.
Goaltender Scott Darling recorded his sixth and seven win of the season. He is tied for fifth in three league categories: wins (7), save percentage (.932) and goals against average (1.97). The victory over Milwaukee also snapped a big losing streak as the IceHogs had dropped eight straight, dating back to Feb. 22 of last season. Milwaukee has handed the Hogs three of their four regulation losses this season.
Winger Ryan Hartman tailed both the game-tying and game-winning goal in the overtime win over Iowa. The 2013 first-round pick also recorded his fourth assist of the season at Chicago. He has eight points in 19 games in his first full AHL season. Fellow winger Garret Ross scored twice in the win over Chicago and he contributed an assist against Iowa. Brandon Mashinter also scored a goal and added an assist while Viktor Svedberg had two assists.
Forward Ryan Schnell completed the Gordie Howe hat trick against Iowa. He added an assist and dropped his gloves against the Admirals, but was unable to find the back of the net for his second Gordie of the week.
Dennis Rasmussen recorded his first AHL multi-point game over Milwaukee, Peter Regin added his second assist in two games and T.J. Brennan tallied the game-winner on the power play.
Indy
The Fuel (3-8-2-1) dropped three straight games, including two to the Reading Royals on the weekend. The Fuel fell to the Orlando Solar Bears 4-1 on Wednesday at home, before being defeated 4-2 and 2-1 by the Royals.
The Fuel’s leading goal-scorer, forward Robert Czarnik did not score this past week. Rookie Fuel defenseman Nick Hones was recalled by the AHL’s Worcester Sharks on Tuesday. The 24-year-old Jones is tied for sixth on the team with one goal and six total points.
Matt White scored the lone goal against Orlando. Kirill Gotovets opened the scoring against Reading and was assisted by Nick Bruneteau and Dean Chelios. Justin Holl scored his first professional goal next then Gotovets added another goal. Reading rallied and scored four unanswered goals for the first victory. Holl tallied his second goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 off a feed from Rhett Bly and Czarnik.
NCAA, USHL, and others
Chris Calnan (F), Boston College (NCAA) – Calnan scored two goals, including the game-winner for Boston College in a 5-3 victory at UMass on Friday. The 2012 third-round pick also contributed an assist in Saturday’s 4-1 win over the Maine. He leads the Golden Eagles with five goals and ranks fifth in points with seven in 11 games.
Anthony Louis (F), Miami Ohio (NCAA) – Louis scored a goal and an assist in the RedHawks’ 5-2 win over Western Michigan on Saturday. The 2013 pick has 11 points (3G, 8A) in 14 games this season.
Michael Paliotta (D), Vermont (NCAA) – Paliotta scored a goal in Vermont’s 11-1 victory at UMass Amherst on Saturday. He has seven assists and 10 points this season for the Catamounts.
Luke Johnson (F), North Dakota (NCAA) – Johnson had two shots and went 7-13 in face-offs in a 3-1 loss to No. 15 St. Cloud State. The next night he went 11-6 on face-offs in a 3-2 win for the No. 2 Fighting Sioux.
Tyler Motte (F), Michigan (NCAA) – Motte netted a goal and had six shots in the Wolverine’s 8-1 win over Penn State on Saturday. Motte has four goals and one assist this season.
Vince Hinostroza (F), Notre Dame (NCAA) – Hinostroza had four shots and was 2-5 in the face-off circle in two games against UMass-Lowell. His face-off performance mirrored that of last week’s. He has seven assists and nine points this season for the Irish.
John Hayden (F), Yale (NCAA) – Hayden tallied a goal and an assist in two games for the Bulldogs, scoring his second goal this season in a 3-2 loss to Cornell on Friday and adding his sixth assist in a 3-1 win over Colgate on Saturday. He has eight points (2G, 6A) this season.
Fredrik Olofsson (F), Chicago Steel (USHL) – Olofsson scored his eighth goal in a 3-2 loss to Fargo on Friday. The 2014 selection added an assist in a 5-4 win over Fargo the next night. He has a career-high 16 points this season.
Matheson Iacopelli (F), Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) – Iacopelli contributed two assists in the Lumberjacks’ 4-3 win over Bloomington on Sunday. The 2014 third-round pick has 16 points (11G, 5A) in 18 games this season.
Ivan Nalimov (G), Admiral Vladivostok (KHL) – Nalimov did not play this week. He has a 3.11 GAA and .889 SA over 16 games this season.
Carl Dahlstrom (D), Linkoping (SHL) – Dahlstrom played in three games this week and for the second straight week did not record a point. He now has a -11 rating in 23 games this season.
Robin Press (D), Södertälje (Allsvenskan) – Press scored one goal during the three-game stretch this week. He has eight goals and 14 helpers in 26 games this season.
