Blackhawks prospect watch: John Hayden scores at WJC, Teravainen scores 4 points

Here is the weekly look at how some of the Chicago Blackhawks‘ prospects are performing around the globe, starting with the minor league affiliates.

Rockford

The IceHogs (19-10-3-1) split two games this week, a 2-1 loss to the Iowa Wild on Friday and a 4-2 win over the Chicago Wolves on Sunday.

Teuvo Teravainen tallied two goals and two assists, including the lone goal off a feed from Cody and T.J. Brennan in the second period during Friday’s loss. Teravinen potted a goal and two assists in the first 40 minutes of Sunday’s game.

Peter Regin and Adam Clendening each had two assists while Dennis Rasumussen, Ville Pokka and Mark McNeill found the back of the net.

Michael Leighton stopped 22 of 24 shots he faced in the loss. Scott Darling made 33 saves in the win.

Indy

The Fuel (6-16-3-3) picked up three of four points in a weekend split against Cincinnati. They skated away with a 4-3 win on Friday before dropping a 2-1 overtime loss.

Robert Czarnik tallied two goals and an assist while Garett Bembridge had a goal and an assist this week. Patrick Cullen scored the game-winner Friday. Pete Massar, Mathieu Brisebois, Nick Bruneteau and Dean Chelios each registered an assist.

Mac Carruth stopped 42 of 47 shots he faced over the two games.

NCAA, USHL, and others

Five Blackhawks’ prospects are playing in the annual IIHF U20 World Championship tournament in Canada. Anthony Louis, Nick Schmaltz, Tyler Motte and John Hayden are skating for Team USA while Robin Norell is on Team Sweden.

Robin Norell (D), Sweden – The shutdown blue liner has been held without a point in three games, while collecting one shot on goal.

Anthony Louis (F), Miami Ohio (NCAA) – Louis has no points and five shots on goal through three games at WJC.

Nick Schmaltz (F), North Dakota (NCAA) – Schmaltz assisted Auston Matthews’ game-winner in a 6-0 win against Germany on Sunday. He has six shots total shots over four games at the WJC.

Tyler Motte (F), Michigan (NCAA) – Motte collected an assist against Germany and has nine shots on goal at the WJC.

John Hayden (F), Yale (NCAA) – The USA alternate captain, Hayden scored the final tally on his only shot in a 3-0 win over Slovakia on Monday. He has five shots during the WJC.

Michael Paliotta (D), Vermont (NCAA) – Paliotta had two assists in a 4-2 win over Air Force on Sunday. He has 18 points this season (5G, 13A).

Vince Hinostroza (F), Notre Dame (NCAA) – Hinostroza went 18-23 in the face-off circle while registering a shot in each of the Fighting Irish’s two games this week. He has 12 assists and 16 points this season.

Fredrik Olofsson (F), Chicago Steel (USHL) – Olofsson went scoreless in a 5-1 loss to Dubuque. He has a career-high 23 points this season.

Matheson Iacopelli (F), Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) – Iacopelli also went scoreless in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Madison Capitols. He has 18 points (13G, 5A) in 23 games this season.

Ivan Nalimov (G), Admiral Vladivostok (KHL) – Nalimov allowed two goals in a 3-2 win over Metallurg. He has a 2.96 GAA and .895 SA over 20 games this season.

Carl Dahlstrom (D), Linkoping (SHL) – Dahlstrom has a goal and assist with a -7 rating in 32 outings this season.

Robin Press (D), Södertälje (Allsvenskan) – Press also went scoreless in two games this week. He has 10 goals and 16 assists in 36 games this season.
