The Chicago Blackhawks reassigned defenseman Kyle Cumiskey to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League and placed Tim Erixon on waivers Saturday, the team announced Saturday afternoon.
Cumiskey, 28, played in seven games and did not record a point, while averaging 13:18 of ice time for the Blackhawks after being recalled Feb. 12. He has one goal and 11 assists in 38 games with the IceHogs this season.
Cumiskey signed a one-year deal with the Blackhawks in the offseason after spending the previous two seasons in Sweden.
Erixon, 23, was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a straight up deal for Jeremy Morin on Dec. 14. Erixon did not score a point in his eight games with the Blackhawks. He has six points (one goal, five assists) in 27 games this season.
Erixon is on a one-year, one-way contract worth $600,000. He will have to clear waivers to join Cumiskey in Rockford.

The roster moves leave the Blackhawks with Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Kimmo Timonen, Michal Rozsival and David Rundblad as active defensemen. This likely opens up a spot for Trevor van Riemsdyk’s return from a fractured patella or an upcoming trade.
