Blackhawks reassign Mark McNeill to AHL Rockford

The Chicago Blackhawks reassigned forward Mark McNeill to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League, the team announced Wednesday.

McNeill, 22, made his NHL debut at right wing on the fourth line Tuesday at Carolina, registering three hits and one takeaway in 12:44 of ice time. The 2011 first-round pick was recalled Monday and skated in Jiri Sekac’s spot, who did not travel with the team due to an illness. McNeill is currently on a six-game point streak in the AHL and has nine goals and 19 points in 29 games for Rockford.

McNeill was No. 10 in Second City Hockey’s inaugural Top 25 Under 25 series.

McNeill is the 11th rookie to play for Chicago this season. Artemi Panarin, Phillip Danault, Dennis Rasmussen andErik Gustafsson are all playing key roles on the team right now. Ryan Hartman, Marko Dano, Vincent Hinostroza,Tanner Kero, Kyle Baun and Viktor Svedberg have also seen time with the Hawks in 2015-16.
