Blackhawks reassign Viktor Svedberg to AHL Rockford

The Chicago Blackhawks reassigned defenseman Viktor Svedberg to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey on Sunday morning.

Svedberg, 24, has tallied a goal and two assists in 16 games with Chicago this season. He tallied one assist in 13 minutes, 45 seconds of total ice time against the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 2 during his most recent call up. The Swedish blue liner has posted 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in 30 games for Rockford.

Svedberg skated on the third pairing with Trevor van Riemsdyk, while veterans Michal Rozsival and Rob Scuderi were a healthy scratch. Rozsival has skated the past two games, and scored a goal at Arizona. Meanwhile, Scuderi hasn’t played since Jan. 26 at Carolina, and has yet to register a point since being acquired from Pittsburgh. Look for a rotation from Rozsival and Scuderi on the third pair with van Riemsdyk.

The Blackhawks return to action Tuesday when they host the San Jose Sharks at 7:30 p.m.
