John Quenneville, Rockford IceHogs win 3-2 in OT vs. San Antonio Rampage

ROCKFORD, Ill. — John Quenneville scored 1:14 into overtime to lift the Rockford IceHogs to a 3-2 win against the San Antonio Rampage on Friday at BMO Harris Bank Center.

Lucas Carlsson drove past Mike Vecchione and sent a cross-ice pass to the left face-off circle for Quenneville, who fired the puck past Adam Wilcox for Rockford’s second straight win after going winless in six straight (0-5-0-1).

Dylan Sikura matched his career-long six-game point streak with an assist on Quenneville’s goal. Sikura has nine points (three goals, six assists) during his current point streak since he was reassigned from the Blackhawks on Jan. 19. He previously had seven points (three goals, four assists) during a six-game point streak from Feb. 2 to April 5, 2019.

Alexandre Fortin scored a shorthanded goal and Nicolas Beaudin also scored for the IceHogs (21-25-1-2), who were 0-for-7 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill. Collin Delia made 22 saves.

Klim Kostin and Austin Poganski scored for San Antonio (16-19-7-5), which played its first game since the Vegas Golden Knights purchased the franchise to relocated it to the Las Vegas Valley. Wilcox made 18 saves in his first start since Jan. 24. The Rampage will remain affiliated with the Blues until the end of the season. St. Louis is currently seeking a new AHL affiliate.

Kostin drove around Dennis Gilbert from the right corner to the net then tucked the puck past Delia’s right skate 53 seconds into the second period to put the Rampage up 1-0.

Fortin tied it 1-1 at 18:35 when he raced past Mitch Reinke to retrieve a loose puck and tucked it past Wilcox’s right skate for his first career AHL shorthanded goal.

Beaudin scored his fourth goal of the season with a wrist shot from the high slot past a screen from Joni Tuulola to put Rockford up 2-1 at 13:50 of the third.

Poganski tied it 2-2 at 15:00 when he flipped a backhand shot off a rebound over Delia’s right arm.

The IceHogs and Rampage face off at 6 p.m. Saturday in Rockford.
