Collin Delia, John Quenneville help Rockford IceHogs win 3rd straight with 4-2 victory against Texas Stars

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Collin Delia made 33 saves, and John Quenneville had a goal and two assists for the Rockford IceHogs in a 4-2 win against the Texas Stars on Friday at BMO Harris Bank Center.

Delia improved to 6-5 this season with his fourth straight win. He’s allowed seven goals during his four-game win streak after giving up at least four goals in each of his previous four starts.

Lucas Carlsson and Brandon Hagel each had a goal and an assist for Rockford (17-10-0-1), which won its third straight and improved to 8-2 in its last 10 games.

Josh Melnick and Joel L’Esperance scored for Texas (11-15-1-2), which lost its second straight game. Landon Bow made 23 saves.

Quenneville put the IceHogs up 1-0 with a wrist shot from the point at 4:23 of the first period to extend his point streak to four games. He has eight points (four goals, four assists) during his point streak, including two three-point games.

Melnick’s wrist shot from the slot tied it 1-1 at 12:37 of the first.

Quenneville sent a cross-ice pass between two Texas defenders to Philipp Kurashev, who fired a wrist shot from the right face-off circle on the power play for a 2-1 lead at 17:07 of the first.

Carlsson blasted a shot from the left circle to make it 3-1 at 5:02 of the second period. MacKenzie Entwistle skipped a cross-ice pass over Rhett Gardner’s stick and off the boards for Carlsson, who collected the rebound and scored his first goal in eight games.

With an extra skater, L’Esperance scored his 12th goal of the season from the right circle to trim the deficit to 3-2 at 17:05 of the third period.

Hagel added an empty-net goal with 20 seconds remaining in the third for the 4-2 final.

Rockford went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and have killed off 34 of their last 36 penalties.
