Blackhawks sign Dominik Kahun to entry-level contract

Forward Dominik Kahun announced Saturday on social media he has signed an entry-level contract with the Blackhawks.

Extremely proud to have signed my first NHL contract with the @nhlblackhawks . A big thank you to my family, girlfriend , my teammates and coaches . I wouldn’t sign this without your help. Ich bin sehr stolz meinen ersten NHL Vertrag unterschrieben zu haben . Ich möchte mich bei meiner Familie , Freundin , meinen Mitspielern und Trainer bedanken . Kahun, an undrafted free agent, played the past three seasons with Red Bull EHC Munchen in Germany’s top league. The team won the league championship each year with Kahun. During the 2017-18 season, the 22-year-old recorded 41 points in 42 regular season games, then racked up 14 points in 17 playoff games.

The Czech-born player also had two goals and three assists for Germany in their silver-medal run at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The 5-foot-11, 174-pound Kahun played from 2012-14 with the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League. Kahun, a left-handed shot, scored 71 points (22 goals, 49 assists) in 101 OHL games for Sudbury. After his stint in North America, he moved overseas to Germany to play for Munchen.

Kahun is the latest undrafted player from Europe to sign with the Blackhawks. The list includes forward Artemi Panarin and defenseman Michal Kempny, who have both since been traded. Forward David Kampf and defenseman Jan Rutta are also in the mix and remain with Chicago.
