Blackhawks vs. Stars preview: Roszival in for Rundblad, Crawford starts

The Blackhawks and Stars wrap up their season series tonight, as they’ll go head to head at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas. The Blackhawks have won three of the four previous games between these two, but the most recent game went to Dallas when they beat Chicago 6-3 at the United Center on January 18.

Chicago is looking for their fifth straight win, which would tie them with Nashville in the division with 94 points, but give them the edge due to their one in-hand game. Depending on the outcome of the Blues game this afternoon, the Blackhawks could be just 2 points back of the division lead wit a win tonight.

Michal Roszival draws back into the lineup tonight, taking the spot of David Rundblad. Kris Versteeg is also set to return on the third line in place of Daniel Carcillo, who will be scratched along with Andrew Desjardins. Corey Crawford gets the start in net. Crawford looks to continue his hot streak, having given up just eight goals on 224 shots for an outlandish .964 save percentage.

Here were the lines from today’s morning skate:

Sharp Toews Hossa
Saad Vermette Teravainen
Bickell Richards Versteeg
Nordstrom Kruger Shaw

Opponent Breakdown: Dallas Stars

The Stars come into this game on a hot streak as well, having won six of their last eight games, including a tough, impressive 2-1 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night. They’ve been helped a lot by the return of star center Tyler Seguin, who returned from a nasty lower body injury a few weeks ago.

Dallas captain Jamie Benn has been struggling a bit of late, going 11 games without a goal prior to Thursday’s win over Pittsburgh, in which he scored one goal and assisted on the other. He’s been great all year, so a key to this game for the Blackhawks will be looking to keep Benn of the score sheet and get him back to his sruggling ways.
