Artemi Panarin, other Blackhawks to work out at special minicamp in Sweden

The Chicago Blackhawks will hold a conditioning minicamp with Djurgårdens Hockey Club in Stockholm this week, the Swedish club announced last Friday. Blackhawks director of player development Barry Smith is the lead organizer of the mini-camp.

Here’s a list of Blackhawks-affiliated players set for the minicamp:

  1. Marko Dano
  2. Erik Gustafsson
  3. Ryan Hartman
  4. Vincent Hinostroza
  5. Tanner Kero
  6. Joakim Nordstrom
  7. Robin Norell
  8. Artemi Panarin
  9. Ville Pokka
  10. Robin Press
  11. Roy Radke
  12. Dennis Rasmussen
  13. David Rundblad
  14. Viktor Svedberg
  15. Viktor Tikhonov

These will be the first team workouts for Panarin, who did not participate in July’s prospect camp. Panarin signed a two-year entry-level contract in April that is contingent on him making the roster, so he has the option to return to the KHL if he doesn’t make it out of training camp. However, it appears highly unlikely he would return to Russia given the high expectations surrounding the winger.

Four non-Hawks players will participate in the mini-camp: Linus Arnesson (Boston Bruins), Oscar Eklund (undrafted free agent with Brynäs IF in SHL), Tobias Lindberg (Ottawa Senators) and William Nylander (Maple Leafs), who played for the Hawks developmental skills coach Anders Sorensen when he played for the Chicago Mission, according to Chris Block from The Third Man In.

The Blackhawks will begin their NHL training camp on Sept. 18 at the University of Notre Dame. Many of the players who will be in Sweden this week will also be there next month.
