Blackhawks vs. Capitals game preview 2017: Chicago seeks first road win of 2017

Brent Seabrook is expected to play and Corey Crawford will start when the Chicago Blackhawks visit the Washington Capitals on Friday at Verizon Center.

The Hawks have won four straight – all at home – since falling to St. Louis in the Winter Classic on Jan. 2. The Capitals are coming off a 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh, and have now won seven straight.

Washington won the first matchup this season on a Marcus Johansson overtime winner Nov. 11. Braden Holtby, who stopped 32 shots and earned the win in the first game, is 20-8-4 with a 1.90 goals-against average, .932 save percentage in 33 games. He’s one of the hottest goaltenders in the league, allowing three goals in his last four games. He’s 5-2 with a 2.55 GAA in his career against Chicago.

Opposite the reigning Vezina Trophy winner will be Crawford, who stopped 24 of 27 shots in the first meeting, holds a 16-8-3 record with a 2.35 GAA, .925 save percentage in 27 games. Crawford holds a 3-3-2 career record with a 3.25 GAA against Washington.

The Capitals win over Pittsburgh was a milestone night for superstar forward Alex Ovechkin, who scored 35 seconds into the game for his 1,000th NHL career point. Ovechkin added a power play goal later in the second period. The Russian winger has eight goals and four assists in 13 games against Chicago.
