The Chicago Blackhawks and Carolina Hurricanes are scoreless after the first period Sunday night at United Center.
Blackhawks rookie Phillip Danault and the fourth line had several chances, but came up empty. The Hurricanes lead 12-11 on shots on goal.
The Hawks showed a video tribute for Kris Versteeg and Joakim Nordstrom, who are playing against their former team for the first time since helping Chicago win the 2015 Stanley Cup.
