Blackhawks vs. Jets preview: Chicago kicks off 7-game Circus Trip

The Chicago Blackhawks (11-3-2) take on the Winnipeg Jets (8-7-2) on Tuesday night at the MTS Centre in their first game of a seven-game Circus Trip. This will be Chicago’s last bout of the annual Circus Trip, with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus not returning to the United Center in 2017.

The Hawks head into their extended road trip on an 11-game point streak, from picking up nine regulation wins, and two overtime losses. They now sit in first place in both the Central Division and Western Conference with 24 points. The Jets sit just six points behind them with 18, for second place in the Central Division.

Chicago has really picked up their stride compared to the beginning of this season, with the penalty kill getting back on track, and goals like Patrick Kane’s from Sunday night to keep them ahead of the competition.

Not only have the star players been picking up the pace, but both Corey Crawford and Scott Darling have been incredible in the paint. Crawford will get the start in Winnipeg, and heads into the matchup with an 8-3-2 record so far in 2016, boasting a .934 save percentage.

The Blackhawks will say hello to former Blackhawk and Stanley Cup champion Dustin Byfuglien. Not only will Chicago be visiting Byfuglien, but they will also be facing off against some of the hottest young players in the league right now. Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele was named the NHL’s second star of the week, after putting up three goals and three assists last week. Winnipeg also has the current top goal scorer in the league in their lineup in Patrik Laine. The second overall pick in this year’s draft has 11 goals and five assists in 17 games, as he looks to lead the Jets to their fifth consecutive game with a point.
