Blackhawks waive Kyle Cumiskey

After being a healthy scratch for three games straight, Kyle Cumiskey was waived this morning by the Blackhawks. Barring a claim, he will go to Rock Vegas to ply his trade.

A corresponding move has yet to be made. With Michal Rozsival set to debut on Saturday, the Blackhawks have some roster shaping to iron out. Mark Lazerus noted that Q seemed intent on having eight defensemen even after Rozsival returned. If this still holds water, I would guess Klas Dahlbeck is the guy. He looks NHL ready, is a $600,000 cap hit and is a left handed shot. The Hogs would have nine defensemen on their roster with Cumiskey, so it would probably be one up to the show or one down to Indy.

However, if the organization is sold on TvR eating minutes, they could be looking for a bit more forward depth. Kris Versteeg is hobbled for another two weeks, and Jeremy Morin only plays in the NHL theoretically. Peter Regin is probably the first call in this situation, with Joakim Nordstrom being a close two.

A forward makes the most sense. If the organization wanted Klas here, they would have done it at the start of the season. We will find out more after the morning skate tomorrow.
