Blackhawks week ahead: Chicago to visit Scott Darling, Hurricanes

The Chicago Blackhawks will play three games in four days, including another back-to-back. Chicago has three days off before visiting Philadelphia on Thursday then it heads to Carolina on Saturday. The Hawks close out the week Sunday at home against New Jersey.

Chicago’s AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, will also have a backloaded week with three games in as many days starting Friday. The IceHogs visit Iowa then host San Antonio the next night before going up to Milwaukee.

Let’s take a look at the upcoming week in Blackhawks’ hockey (all times Central):

Monday, Nov. 6 – Idle

Central Division: MINN at BOS, WPG at DAL

Around the NHL: VGK at TOR, CBJ at NYR, ARI at WSH, DET at WPG

Tuesday, Nov. 7 – Idle

It’s a NBCSN doubleheader night with Washington visiting Buffalo and Anaheim hosting Los Angeles.

Central Division: STL at NJ, NSH at CBJ

Around the NHL: WSH at BUF, EDM at NYI, ARI at PITT, FLA at CAR, VGK at MTL, VAN at CGY, LA at ANA

Wednesday, Nov. 8 – Idle

It’s another NBCSN doubleheader on tap. Boston makes the trip to New York to play the Rangers in an Original Six matchup while Tampa Bay is in San Jose.

Central Division: MIN at TOR

Around the NHL: BOS at NYR, TB at SJ

Thursday, Nov. 9 – Chicago at Philadelphia, 6 p.m. (NBCS-CH)

The Hawks will look for a season sweep against the Flyers. Chicago and Corey Crawford shut out Philadelphia 3-0 last week at United Center. Artem Anisimov and Jonathan Toews scored 20 seconds apart during the second period, and Alex DeBrincat also scored for Chicago. The Hawks killed off all three penalties on the night, too.

IceHogs: Rockford at Iowa (Minnesota), 10:30 a.m.

Central Division: MINN at MTL, ARI at STL

Around the NHL: EDM at NJ, DET at CGY, VAN at ANA, TB at LAK

Friday, Nov. 10 – Idle

The only nationally televised game in the U.S. is Pittsburgh in Washington on NHL Network.

IceHogs: San Antonio (Colorado) at Rockford, 7 p.m.

Central Division: OTT at COL, NYI at DAL, WPG at VGK

Around the NHL: FLA at BUF, BOS at TOR, PITT at WSH, CAR at CBJ

Saturday, Nov. 11 – Chicago at Carolina, 6 p.m. (WGN)

Chicago visits Carolina for the first time this season. It’s the second half of a back-to-back for the Hurricanes, so Scott Darling, who was traded from Chicago to Carolina in the offseason, may not play. The Hurricanes will have played the night before at Columbus, a Metropolitan Division foe. Although it would be silly not to give Darling the start against his former team.

Matt Duchene will also play his first game for Ottawa against his former team Colorado in Stockholm, Sweden. It’s the first game of a doubleheader on NHL Network, with Toronto at Boston in the nightcap.

IceHogs: Rockford at Milwaukee (Nashville), 6 p.m.

Central Division: COL at OTT, MINN at PHI, NYI at STL, PITT at NSH, WPG at ARI

Around the NHL: EDM at NYR, TOR at BOS, BUF at MTL, CBJ at DET, FLA at NJ, VAN at SJ

Sunday, Nov. 12 – New Jersey at Chicago, 6 p.m. (NBCS-CH)

When the schedule was released this game was circled on the calendar as a top game to watch this season. The reason? Top overall pick Nico Hischier, who has two goals and 10 points in 13 games this season. New Jersey enters the week leading the Metropolitan Division with 19 points and sits in second place in the Eastern Conference.

Around the NHL: EDM at WSH, TB at ANA, SJ at LAK
