Blackhawks’ Nicolas Beaudin, Brandon Hagel to make NHL debuts vs. Sharks

Nicolas Beaudin and Brandon Hagel will make their NHL debuts when the Blackhawks play the Sharks on Wednesday at United Center in Chicago.

Beaudin, a left-handed defenseman, was recalled from Rockford of the AHL on Tuesday for the first time in his career. He has 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) in 59 AHL games in his first professional season. Chicago selected him No. 27 overall in the 2018 NHL draft.

Hagel, a forward, was called up from the AHL on Monday for the third time this season and second time on an emergency basis. He was a healthy scratch for three games during his first call up then was sent back down before the same day before the Blackhawks’ 4-3 loss to the Panthers on Feb. 29 in Sunrise, Florida.

Hagel paces Rockford with 19 goals and is third with 31 points in 59 games during his first professional season. Chicago signed Hagel to a three-year contract in October 2018 after his 2016 NHL draft rights expired when the Sabres opted not to sign him.

Beaudin and Hagel will be the sixth and seventh Chicago players to make their NHL debuts this season, joining defensemen Adam Boqvist and Lucas Carlsson and forwards Kirby Dach, Dominik Kubalik and Anton Wedin.
