Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad will be without a “couple of weeks” with a right ankle injury, head coach Jeremy Colliton said Thursday in Winnipeg.
Saad skated into the Jets zone and between Tucker Poolman and Nicholas Shore before Luca Sbisa hit Saad into the boards with 8:22 remaining in the second period. Saad’s right leg twisted underneath him as he spun to the ice. He laid on the ice before skating off the ice with help from team trainer Mike Gapski and did not return.

“He’s going to be out a couple weeks,” Colliton said. “We’ll see. Obviously it’s [his] ankle. I don’t have an exact timeline, but it’s not day to day.”
Saad has 19 points (11 goals, eight assists) in 35 games this season. His 11 goals rank second on the team to Patrick Kane.
The Blackhawks will play six games in the next two weeks, starting with Saturday against the Avalanche at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
