Bryan Bickell ends NHL career in perfect fashion with shootout goal in final game

Bryan Bickell has always been one for the big moments, so it’s no surprise he concluded his NHL career with one last grand flourish Sunday night. The winger scored a shootout goal in his final time on the ice with the Carolina Hurricanes, leading the team to a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in the season finale.

When Bickell fought so hard to get back on the ice with the Hurricanes after his multiple sclerosis diagnosis, this was the kind of special moment he probably had in mind. The Hurricanes needed a shootout goal to help wrap up their season on a winning note, and with his family watching from the crowd, Bickell came through with one final memorable goal to add to a long list of them.

He even got fist bumps from the Flyers after scoring on them:

Now Bickell, who played with the Blackhawks from 2007 to 2016, is set to retire after 10 seasons in the NHL. We already covered our favorite Bickell moments recently, but naturally he made sure to add one more in his final NHL game. Thanks for everything, Bryan, we’ll keep rooting for you.
