Number Munchers: Are the Blackhawks doing anything better than last season?

On Nov. 9, the Chicago Blackhawks were coming off of a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning and owned a 5-7 record that was decent enough this stage of the franchise’s ongoing rebuild process. Since then, though, Chicago has just two wins in the last 11 games and is now sitting in a tie for last place in the NHL standings.

There’s not much to enjoy about things in Blackhawks land right now, but the team has now played 23 games this season, which gives us some decent sample sizes of data to explore numbers beyond the team’s 7-16 record this season. For comparison’s sake, we’ll use the numbers from last season (explored in greater depth here) to see what the Blackhawks have been up to so far this season and to see if there’s evidence of progression in any of these categories.
