Blackhawks’ Bryan Bickell says he’s still feeling vertigo symptoms

Bryan Bickell says he’s still feeling vertigo symptoms three months later. The Chicago Blackhawks forward told reporters Friday after playing in two scrimmages at the team’s opening day of training camp that he expects to control symptoms well enough to play.

Bickell first said he experienced vertigo in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final against the Anaheim Ducks. He only played the first period of Game 7 because he felt dizzy then missed the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final.

Kris Versteeg skated in Bickell’s spot on the second line during his absence in the Final.

In July, Bickell had a tooth pulled due to infection and said that could have been the source of the vertigo.

Bickell, 29, recorded 14 goals and 28 points during 65 regular-season games last season. He added five assists in 18 postseason games en route to winning his second Stanley Cup with the Hawks.
