Christian Ehrhoff will play vs. Red Wings

Newly-acquired defenseman Christian Ehrhoff will make his debut for the Chicago Blackhawks against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena, reports NHL.com’s Brian Hedger.

Hedger adds that is unknown who Ehrhoff will replace on the blue line.

Chicago acquired Ehrhoff from the Los Angeles Kings for defenseman Rob Scuderi on Feb. 26. The 33-year-old Ehrhoff has recorded two goals and 10 points in 40 games with the Los Angeles. His best season offensively speaking was 2010-11 with the Vancouver Canucks, when he collected 14 goals and 36 assists for 50 points.

The German blue liner did not record a point in a game earlier this season against Detroit. Ehrhoff will wear No. 55.

Other practice notes

Marian Hossa, who hasn’t played since suffering an apparent left leg injury Feb. 13 against Anaheim, won’t travel with the team to Detroit (Wednesday) or Boston (Thursday), but coach Joel Quenneville told reporters Hossa could return for Sunday’s game against the Red Wings at the United Center.

Dale Weise is still not with the Hawks while he waits for his work visa to be approved. The winger, who was acquired from the Montreal Canadiens on Friday, had his bag at practice but he was not present. Hedger suggest Weise could meet the team in Detroit or Boston once paperwork is cleared and play. The Hawks announced Weise will wear No. 25.

Corey Crawford will start against Detroit, while Scott Darling likely gets the call in Boston for the back-to-back road trip.
