Blackhawks’ Drake Caggiula wears Michael Jordan T-shirt during press conference

Blackhawks forward Drake Caggiula spent part of NHL’s pause like many Chicago sports fans: watching “The Last Dance.”

The documentary miniseries revolves around Michael Jordan’s career, with particular focus on his last season with the Chicago Bulls.

Caggiula liked the series so much he decided to buy a T-shirt on Amazon with a photo of Jordan smoking a cigar following a NBA championship victory. He wore the T-shirt along with a black Chicago Cubs hat during a press conference Thursday in Edmonton.

“I saw the scene where he was celebrating in the hallway just like this, and I was like, ‘That would be a cool shirt to have,’” said Caggiula, who was 3 years old during Jordan’s final season with the Bulls in 1998. “I was watching the show, and I had to get it. It’s a pretty sweet T-shirt. This guy’s the GOAT (Greatest of All Time). I wear it with pride. He’s pretty cool.”

The 26-year-old scored 15 points (nine goals, six assists) in 40 games before the NHL paused the season March 12 due to concerns about the coronavirus. He missed 27 games due to his second concussion in less than a year.

Caggiula wants to recreate the picture of Jordan this summer with the Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup. He’ll take the first step in that quest Saturday when the Blackhawks start a best-of-five qualifier series against his former team, the Oilers.

“Hopefully I can get a picture like that of my own,” he said.
