Blackhawks prospect Ian Mitchell reached double digits in points this season with a three-assist outing (two primary) in No. 1 Denver’s 6-2 win over Niagara. The right-handed defenseman also had four shots on goal in the game and followed that with three blocked shots in a 4-0 win.
Mitchell has 10 points (three goals, seven assists), 17 shots on goal, a plus-5 rating and eight blocked shots in eight games during his junior season.

Josh Ess, LH-D (Big 10, Wisconsin)
Weekly stats: 2 GP, 3 BLK

Ess blocked three shots in Wisconsin’s second game against Penn State. The Badgers head west to visit Nebraska-Omaha of the NCHC this weekend.

Ryan Shea, LH-D (Hockey East, Northeastern)
Weekly stats: 2 GP, 1A, 2 SOG, 1 BLK, -3
Season stats: 8 GP, 3A, 9 shots, 6 PIM, +1, 6 BLK
Shea picked up his second assist of the season and 50th point in his NCAA career in No. 10 Northeastern’s 4-2 loss to No. 3 UMass in the second game of the weekend. The Northeastern captain also had two shots on goal, blocked one shot and was on the ice for one goal against in the game. He was on the ice for two goals against in the series opener.

Josiah Slavin, LW (NCHC, Colorado College)
Weekly stats: 2 GP, 5 SOG, 2 BLK, 37.5 FO%
Season stats: 6 GP, 1A, 9 SOG, 2 PIM, 6 BLK, 41.8 FO%
Slavin certainly doesn’t look like a freshmen at 6-foot-3. The forward is generating chances, driving play and winning some pucks against upperclassmen. Granted it was against Western Michigan and not a NCHC foe, Slavin played OK at left wing on the second line. He’s still taking draws going 3-for-6 and 3-for-10 against the Broncos. He was on the ice for two goals against in the first game of the weekend.
Slavin and the Tigers are off this coming weekend before a trip to St. Cloud State that starts a string of seven games away from Broadmoor World Arena.
Alex Vlasic, LH-D (Hockey East, Boston)
Weekly stats: 2 GP, 2 SOG, 3 BLK, -3
Season stats: 7 GP, 2A, 5 SOG, 7 BLK
Vlasic moved up in the lineup to the second pairing and shift to his off side on the right. The freshman was on ice for three goals against, including two in the second game (2-2 tie) against Maine. He also had two shots on goal in the second outing. Vlasic, who is projected to play at BU for two seasons, is among six NHL draftees on the blue line for BU head coach Albie O’Connell.
BU has a home-and-home this weekend against conference foe No. 11 Providence.
Jake Wise, C (Hockey East, Boston)
Weekly stats: 2 GP, 2 SOG, 44 FO%
Season stats: 7 GP, 3A, 8 SOG, 2 BLK, 49.1 FO%
Wise has now gone four straight games without a point, with only two shots on goal in that span after this weekend. He was a clip below 50-percent on faceoffs against Maine going 11-for-19 and 9-for-16 in two games, respectively.
Dominic Basse, G (USHL, Youngstown/NCAA Colorado College)
Weekly stats: 2 GP, 5 GA
Season stats: 8 GP, 4-2-1, 3.55 GAA, .892 SV%
Basse had a great weekend stopping 36 of 38 shots against the Chicago Steel then the next night making 31 saves on 34 shots against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The Colorado College commit even held a shutout through two periods against the Steel.
