Blackhawks defenseman prospect Ian Mitchell was named a first team West All-American, the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced Saturday.
Mitchell had career highs in goals (10) and points (32) in 36 games during his junior season, which helped him earn first team All-NCHC honors and be a finalist for NCHC offensive defenseman of the year.
Mitchell has reportedly decided to forego his senior year of eligibility and agreed to terms on a contract with Chicago. If the NHL returns and the League allows Mitchell to sign, he will start a three-year contract for the 2019-20 season. If not, he will sign a three-year deal to start for the 2020-21 season.
