Here is the weekly look at how some of the Chicago Blackhawks‘ prospects are performing around the globe, starting with the minor league affiliates.
Rockford
The IceHogs (10-4-0-1) fell for the first time in eight games to the Milwaukee Admirals (Predators) dropping both ends of a home-and-home series. They fell 4-1 on Friday and 2-1 on the road before T.J. Brennan netted the game-winner for a 3-2 win over the 2014 Calder Cup Champion Texas Stars at home.
The first loss against the Admirals was after six days of rest and the first since a 3-2 loss at Rochester on Oct. 22. The Admirals appear to have the IceHogs’ number, having handed them three of their four regulation losses this season and eight straight daring back to March 7.
Scott Darling was handed both losses after allowing five goals and making 46 saves. Antti Raanta earned the win over Texas with 33 saves and was awarded the No. 1 star.
Brennan has scored at least a point in his last eight games and ranks second among all AHL defensemen with a +12 rating. He leads the team in the same category and in shots on goal. Teuvo Teravainen scored three points in three games during the week, including the lone goal against Milwaukee on Saturday and two primary assist against Texas. This season the Finnish center has 10 points (2G, 8A) in 14 games with the IceHogs.
The IceHogs are currently in first place of the Midwest Division, one point in front of the Chicago Wolves (Blues, 10-3-2-0).
Indy
The Fuel (3-5-2-1) topped the Wheeling Nailers, 3-2, on Saturday in their only game this week. It was the second victory over the Nailers in as many weeks. The Fuel are tied for sixth place with nine points in the North Division.
Forward Robert Czarnik scored two goals, including the game-winner at 3:59 in the third period with the extra skater. It was Czarnik’s eighth goal of the season. Patrick Cullen was credited with the lone assist on the first goal. Centerman Matt White scored a power-play goal in the second period, assisted by Dean Chelios (Chris’ son) and newly acquired Garett Bembridge.
NCAA, USHL, and others
Anthony Louis (F), Miami Ohio (NCAA) – Louis scored one goal and had assist in two games against North Dakota. He also had five shots and won one face-off. He has seven assists and nine points in 12 games for the No. 7 ranked RedHawks.
Michael Paliotta (D), Vermont (NCAA) – Paliotta had seven shots in two games against Providence, including five in a 2-1 win on Saturday. He has seven helpers and nine points on the season for the Catamounts.
Nick Schmaltz (F), North Dakota (NCAA) – The Chicago Blackhawks’ 2014 first-round pick and North Dakota freshman forward Nick Schmaltz is out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury. Schmaltz suffered the injury in a game against Wisconsin on Nov. 8. The 18-year-old has one goal and seven assists in nine games this season. He had 18 goals and 45 assists in 55 games for the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL last season, promoting the Hawks to trade up to select him 20th overall.
Luke Johnson (F), North Dakota (NCAA) – Johnson had five shots and went 17-19 in the face-off circle, including a 11-7 performance in the first game against Vermont. The sophomore has three goals on the season.
Tyler Motte (F), Michigan (NCAA) – Motte scored a goal and had a primary assist, and eight shots in two games against American International. He has three goals and one assist this season.
Vince Hinostroza (F), Notre Dame (NCAA) – Hinostroza scored the opening goal in a thrilling 3-2 win over Merrimack on Friday. He also had the primary assist on the Irish’s lone goal in a 4-1 loss on Saturday to Merrimack. He went 2-5 in the face-off circle during the two games in North Andover, Mass. He has seven assists and nine points this season for the Irish.
John Hayden (F), Yale (NCAA) – The Bulldogs did not play this past week. Hayden has four points (1G, 3A) with a +2 rating and 21 shots on goal in four games this season.
Fredrik Olofsson (F), Chicago Steel (USHL) – The Steel were also off this week. Olofsson had an assist against Waterloo and Youngstown last week. He has seven goals and seven assists for the Steel.
Matheson Iacopelli (F), Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) – Iacopelli scored a goal and an assist in two games against the Bloomington Thunder and US NTDP Under-18 team. He is tied with Brock Boeser (Waterloo) and Jiri Fronk (Cedar Rapids) at 11 goals for the league’s lead.
Ivan Nalimov (G), Admiral Vladivostok (KHL) – Nalimov has a 3.11 GAA and .889 SA over 16 games this season.
Carl Dahlstrom (D), Linkoping (SHL) – Dahlstrom has one goal with a -10 rating in 20 games this season.
Robin Press (D), Södertälje (Allsvenskan) – Press scored two goals and added an assist over two games. He has seven goals and 14 helpers in 23 games this season.
