NBC Sports all-female crew to broadcast, produce Blackhawks vs. Blues game March 8

NBC Sports will make history March 8 when they have an all-female crew broadcast and produce the Blackhawks’ home game against the Blues at the United Center.

It will be the first NHL game broadcast and produced solely by women in the United States and will coincide with International Women’s Day.

Kate Scott will do play-by-play alongside analysts AJ Mleczko and Kendall Coyne-Schofield, both of whom won Olympic gold with the United States in 1998 and 2018, respectively. Coyne-Schofield, who is also a Palos Heights native and Blackhawks ambassador, will provide her analyst between the benches.

Kathryn Tappen will serve as the anchor for studio coverage with three-time Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jen Botterill. Producer Rene Hatleid and director Lisa Seltzer will lead the game production.

“Throughout the broadcast there will be nods to those who have made their mark on women’s hockey, and sports in general, with the hopes to inspire future generations of women to excel on the ice and behind the scenes,” according to a NBC Sports press release.

The Blackhawks have been outscored 7-3 in two losses to the Blues, 4-0 on Dec. 2 in Chicago and 4-3 on Dec. 12 in St. Louis.
