Blackhawks’ Tommy Hawk first NHL mascot inducted into Mascot Hall of Fame

Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk made history this past weekend when he was the first NHL mascot inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in Whiting, Indiana.

Tommy Hawk, who was introduced in 2001, was joined by his United Center counterpart in Benny the Bull of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls. Sluggerrr of the MLB’s Kansas City Royals and Nittany Lion of the NCAA’s Penn State University were also inducted.

Benny the Bull and Tommy Hawk are the first two Chicago mascots to make the Hall of Fame.

The NCAA has the most mascots in the Hall of Fame with eight, with half of them from the Big Ten, while the NBA has six and MLB has five. KC Wolf of the Kansas City Chiefs (Class of 2006) is the lone NFL mascot. The MLS, NWSL and WNBA are not represented.
