Blackhawks to finish 5-game road trip against Jets

The Blackhawks look to finish their five-game road trip through Western Canada with back-to-back wins when they visit the Jets on Sunday at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg.

Chicago (26-24-8) scored a season-high eight goals in a 8-4 win against the Flames on Saturday in Calgary. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews each had a goal and two assists, Alex Nylander scored two goals and Robin Lehner made 38 saves for the Blackhawks, who were 0-3-2 in the past five games.

The Blackhawks’ eight goals were all during five-on-five play. Chicago went 0-for-3 on the power play and is now 0-for-23 in its past five games on the man advantage.

Corey Crawford will start in net against the Jets (24-18-5). Crawford has lost his past two starts, including a 5-2 loss Feb. 9 in Winnipeg when he made 31 saves on 34 shots. He’s allowed at least three goals in his past four starts (0-2-2) against the Jets.

The Jets recorded their fourth three-game winning streak this season with their victory against the Blackhawks, but have lost their past two games.

Kyle Connor and Blake Wheeler scored in Winnipeg’s 3-2 loss to San Jose on Friday. The Jets allowed two goals in 1:29 in the third period to become the last team in the NHL to lose when leading entering the third period. They were 19-0-0.

Connor, who has a team-high 29 goals, has nine points (four goals, five assists) in his past five games and four (two goals, two assists) in four games against Chicago this season. Patrik Laine, meanwhile, has cooled off with zero points in two straight games after scoring nine goals in as many games.
